Currently studying Journalism (NCTJ Accredited) BA (Hons) at De Montfort University completing the course in May 2019. I have participated in numerous placements for work experience in news rooms and at newspapers such as; Leicester Mercury, The Hinckley Times and IForum (Charles University, Prague). These placements have allowed me to become IT literate and conversant in creating and editing media packages with Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie and Premier Pro. These workplace placements have given me a taste of the professional industry and the kind of traits an individual needs to succeed.

Qualifications gained: NCTJ Shorthand 100WPM, NCTJ Court Reporting, NCTJ Essential Law, NCTJ Essential Journalism, NCTJ Public Affairs.
This three year undergraduate course has allowed me to become IT literate and conversant in creating media packages with Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie and Premier Pro, I have also gained excellent knowledge of sub-editing and design through modules such as Magazine Publishing. Currently completing my third year of this course creating a 64-page magazine using InDesign, Photoshop and word processing packages to subedit work to a high standard and writing a dissertation 'Why do people still read magazines?'

JUNIOR REPORTER - THE LOCAL ROCK
August 2015 - present
Ongoing paid work, writing edits for each South Leicester edition of The Local Rock and contributing to the Hinckley and Villages editions. By finding and sourcing my own individual stories, I meet new people and create new contacts in the business. This role allows me to use my creativity and excellent communication skills to express other individuals’ stories and experiences. Currently, I have over 400 articles published in this magazine. Working for multiple editions requires excellent communication and organisation skills in order to print for the deadline.

Working alongside a team as a cashier, responsible for banking using unique technologies and giving excellent customer service always with energy and a smile.
REPORTER - LEICESTER MERCURY

Completing both features and news articles that were published on the website. Including attending the Miss GB final, interviewing the co-ordinator, taking images first hand and working together with the photographer to produce professional features. This feature was published on the website and in print. In addition to writing features and news articles, I attended court and shadowed the court reporter adhering to professional standards.
EDITORIAL - IFORUM
August 2017
Attending Charles University, Prague I wrote articles and features for the Publication IForum. I worked alongside Czech students and liaised with professors and editors to produce many articles, individually and as a team, which were published both online and in print. This required over-coming language and cultural barriers to produce the most professional articles which were at a high standard such as: Exhibition of Globes and History of Their Making.
ELECTION REPORTER - LEICESTER MERCURY
June 2017
Volunteering to cover the South Leicestershire constituency count in the snap election 2017 consisted of interviewing politicians standing for the role of MP and gleaning tips from various other journalists including how to approach professionals and guidance on to-camera pieces. The interviews and updates were fed to and consequently published on the Leicester Mercury live blog in June 2017.

Working in a newsroom environment, writing mostly entertainment features to a high standard that were published in the weekly publication. In addition to this, I completed a double page feature including interviews and photographs.

A small collection of work completed whilst studying journalism. I bring enthusiasm and energy to every task that I undertake. I am an excellent communicator with an advanced understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Writing allows me to use my creativity and skills learnt whilst studying to express other individuals’ stories and experiences
EXHIBITION OF GLOBES AND HISTORY OF THEIR MAKING
The Map Collection at Charles University was established in 1891 and was moved to Albertov 6, Prague 2, in 1913 where it still remains today. Following this, the Faculty of Science was created in 1920 and with it, the state map collection. I visited, highlighted and reviewed the vast collection for a Czech publication.
HUGE RISE IN CANCELLED OPERATIONS DUE TO STAFF SHORTAGES AT LEICESTER HOSPITALS
After results from an FOI request submitted to Leicestershire hospitals revealed shocking statistics, politicians and health officials were contacted and a short, well-written article was published in the Leicester Mercury.
